ABOUT PETER AND WHERE IT ALL STARTED
Hello, and welcome to the offical website of Smyth Sport Horses. Known as Peter Smyth, I come from the townland of Urbelreagh between the villages of Ardstraw and Victoria Bridge - in the north of Ireland. I am the sixth generation of the Smyth family to have farmed here. My Father Jim Smyth was the first to have an intersest in horses, and it was from him that I developed my passion for them.
I began riding ponies at an early age and competed at many shows throughtout Ireland ; then, at the age of 19, I left home and travelled to Switerland were I trained with Gerhard Etter for over three years. I then returned home to Urbelreagh in december 1992 and started up the now known Smyth Sport Horses.
With over 25 years in Business here - and I can look back with satisfaction to all the people and horses that have crossed my path, and look forward to all the ones that lie ahead!

Longstanding headgrooms Sarah and Rebecca without whom the place would not operate!
"I have bought horses from Peter for the last 20 years for all disciplines, from the amateur to professionals' horse. His ability to match the correct horse for the riders needs is never too far off the mark and he will always stand over the sale until the right animal is found and the customer is happy. This in my opinion is a rare attribute to find in the horse industry and makes Peter and his team a top choice for sourcing your next superstar!" Doug Aldred Equestrian (Woodside Farm, Lancashire)
"I have been working alongside Peter for the over ten years now, I find his horses to be good quality Irish bred sports horses that are well produced and that know their job!" Linda L Philipson (Master of the Braes of Derwent Hunt, Northumberland)
"Smyth Sport Horses have broken, produced, competed and sold all of my home bred horses to date. Each horse is treated as an individual, and I couldn't recommend their services and professionalism more highly!" Dorothea Wilson ( Horse Breeder & Owner, Templepatrick)
